Elk Ridge Outfitters offers a nice change in summer vacations, we have a variety of
interests and scenery all nestled in the heart of one of Montana's best kept
secrets, we invite you to join us for an outdoor venture as we explore the
Shields river valley.
Horseback Rider's: We have room to roam, and spectacular places to see. We
can arrange nearly every type of riding adventure,
from an easy slow ride for the inexperienced, to a challenging ride for
the more adventurous. So you decide what your interest level might be. Our
riding is done in western saddles, but have a few English riders who enjoy
bringing their own saddles.
Fishermen: Yes we have trout fishing and if you can't catch one here well;
we don't know what to tell ya.
We can offer you the chance and excitement of fishing a high alpine lake, or the
intensity of fishing a fast moving creek, and even the relaxation of fishing
from a boat in a quiet pond. We practice a catch and release policy in many of
our fishing areas, so as to help insure continued good fishing for years to
come.
 Hiker's: You will be happy to find terrain that can offer you a challenge, and also
relaxed easy hiking, which ever you choose. Along your journey you may see many different types of wildlife, such as deer, elk, moose, antelope
and if you dare venture to the mountain tops; you could expect to see
mountain goats, and hopefully a bear, mountain lion
or wolverine. Don't forget to take the time to enjoy the thousands of
wildflowers the area has to offer. There is nothing more beautiful than a meadow
filled with forget-me-nots or a hill side of balsamroot, You won't want to miss
anything.
 Bird
Watcher's: You will be amazed at the different species of raptor's that inhabit
this area, Some seasonal like the bald eagle, but many more that soar the big
sky year around. Some of the other birds you'll see will range from the friendly
chickadee to the interesting sage grouse.
What ever your interests are, whether it be hiking Boots or riding boots, field
glasses or fishing pole or just a little bit of everything, bring your camera
and your love of the outdoors and join us in the beautiful Shields River Valley.
